Acupuncture has been used as a primary health care modality for over 2,000 years. It enhances immunity, has an anti-inflammatory effect and increases blood circulation. At its simplest level acupuncture can be used to treat musculo-skeletal conditions and to reduce pain. But it can also be used to treat the full range of human health challenges including headaches and migraines, digestive dysfunction…etc.
Acupressure and Shiatsu are the traditional therapeutic massage techniques of China and Japan. A Chinese medicine practitioner is skilled in the art of direct, focused application of pressure, using the fingers, thumbs, palms or elbows, to points of muscular tension in the body. This is often used within the context of a full acupuncture treatment but can also be used as a stand-alone treatment.
A Chinese Medicine doctor uses a range of herbs and minerals to regulate human metabolism and support the function of the internal organs. The herbs are combined into complex formulas which can be modified to target the specific health needs of the individual patient. The herbs we use at Shen Adelaide are sourced in Taiwan from high quality suppliers. They are powders which are mixed with hot water to make surprisingly good tasting teas!
All of us have been subject to intense emotional episodes when we have not been treated with love, wisdom and kindness.
